I have a 93 Commander 21' Berkley jet w/A impeller. 468ci stock guessing 275-300hp. 750CFM carb. It turns 4400 rpms and goes 55mph with 2 people and ice chest. Im going to rebuild the engine. I want more speed. I have a merlin head ready to go and i'm planning on going full roller. The cam i want is a Comp Cam, Extreme Marine # XM284HR: Cam & Kit. I'm hoping for 500HP and 5500rpm. Will this cam work? Any thoughts anyone.
I dont know much about engine building and any comment is appreciated.
Happy Boating... John
This is the link for the cam kit.

I can work with you on a cam that may work a little better, based on your combination of parts. I will PM my phone number. Are you planning on doing any pump modifications to get to the 5500 RPM?
