Title: Flared fittings into NPT threads?

I want to run S/S tubing for my water lines, I have the bender and some tube so why not? Can I just flare the tubing and use a flare nut to install it into the NPT threads on my water plates and t-stat housing?

Just so you know, AN and flare are different, the angle on the face is where the difference is, the threads are the same, I have used copper tubing before on a closed cooling system for a fishing boat, worked killer and once they were painted engine color looked factory...

In assume you're going to just use a MPT to flare adapter, I say sure why not, just remember to put in an expansion bend for vibration...

I've thought of hardlines a time or 2 , I was thinking he would still need a npt to an adapter, and the hard lines got flaired to 37*(which is different than say brake lines). I'm all ears on this one because I'm not sure. Re the flair/an deal, a week or 2 ago I ordered a -08 to npt adapter from jegs #100129 and it says ,flair to pipe adapter 45 degree -08 to 1/2" npt. Just curious why they would label it both flair and an?? I think other than bending lines, the only trick is getting the right flairing tool for the lines. But wtf do I know,lol

I stopped by Jet Boat Performance yesterday and talked to Tom about the water lines and how they are built. Just curious how you were going to get them to collect into one. What you were going to use to sodder them together in the larger tube with. He was saying that you have to use silver sodder. Talked jto a jeweler friend who said it is stronger than lead  sodder plus it has a higher melting temp which is good since it is going to be next to direct heat.

What would you need to solder? Just because he's going to run hard lines doesn't mean he can't use t-fittings ect??

I think Donjuan is confusing water lines with the header feed lines... :sly:

My bad. I was thinking the water injection lines to the headers. Newb mistake.
