Standard or SFI? WHY? I replaced the flexplate and now I have a vibration that was never there. its throughout the RPM range . Enough that it left a tingling in my finger tips after a long run from the Havasu Chanel to almost near Steamboat cove and back. It wasn't there the last time I ran the boat from AVI to Pirates Cove and back. It was the only change in the drive line.

Oh yeah, 454 GEN IV BBC

You must have got a weighted or non weighted flex plate. Need to find out how your motor is balanced...

This change was bad. Now your completely unbalanced and it will tear itself apart.
Don't run it until you fix it.
Do what capogniracing suggested.
What did you have on their before? Flexplate or Flywheel
Post a picture of it and what you put in if you have one
-
If it's a basically stock 454 it's externally balanced, while the other BBC engines (396,402,427) were all internally balanced and used a traditional SBC flexplate.
Where did you get the replacement flexplate?
-
Previous was weighted. The new one was weighted as well. It was definitely out of balance. Vatozone part. Do I NEED SFI? Previous one was not.

No need for sfi, any chance you put it on backwards? Or didn't line up dowl pin hole in crank
