Well, the engine has been fired, times and the cam run in. I've got a problem though and I hope someone can tell me what's wrong. I'm running off the garden hose - water is going through the pump so as not to burn anything up, but with the water turned on completely, I'm not getting any water pressure reading at the gauge. Here's where I have it located, is this the wrong place? and what pressure should I see from the pressure available from the hose?

Is this the wring place to locate the gauge and is there too little pressure from the hose to have a reading?

Garden hose wont give you a pressure reading, atleast not an accurate one...
You are running an open system with the hose = no pressure put it in the water let the pump push the water now its a closed system with pressure..

Thanks 2Sav. Also, could this be the reason for the pressure relief valve not working?

It has to have pressure for it to work ;)
So if you'r checking for pressure with a garden hose...........you'r lighting a candle in the wind ;D
Wont work..

OK, then I guess for those settings I'll have to be on the river. Whew!!! I thought I had bad parts. Sure was nice to get this thing fired up and the cam run in. Thanks!!! Greg

Another quick question. At engine idle with the boat in the water, how much water pressure should be coming out of the pump?

Mine did the same thing but soon as I but it in the water it started to work good luck

Thanks Boost, so far things seem to be coming together. Let's hope this one does the same thing.

i would think 12-16 psi same as a radiator cap

By the way... Did you know that a oil dip stick that has had the handle shortened will spit oil all over where? I didn't know that until I fired up the motor for the cam run in. Sure made a mess of a new clean motor.
12 - 16 psi is what I'll strive for. Thanks Ralph.
