Title: Ford V-10

 I have a chance to pick-up a 1999 F-250 ext cab 4x4, The guy said it broke I the timing chane. The truck only has 60,000 miles and i know the guy pretty well and the truck was damm near new, I haven't work on any of theses motors, Is this a common, I have never heard of it happening, seems like some thing eles would be wrong too, he don't drivr it hard barley 60 on a good day tops. any body know any thing?

I have heard that ford had a problem with there timing chins 99 - 2002 should be an easy fix. You have to take off all accesories in front . Then youll see . A couple hundred $ though.

In my experiences it seems like 60,000 miles is the key number for fords to break....Trannies, motors, etc!

The only thing I had a ford service guy tell me about the v-10 is that they have a habit of blowing a spark plug or two out of the heads. Told me that if that happens 86 it.  8) As for you OC I have my 99 expedition with about 150k on it and just now have a problem with it, which im being told its electrical. So there lol  :o You ford basher you :screwy:

My next door neighbor has replaced 4 coils  :o   But it does get 10mpg  :D

I've been told that the most common cause of for Fords blowing out the spark plug is the use of non Ford spark plugs. 

We have had good success in repairing blown out plugs on both the Ford v8 and v10s.

Ya my 5.4 blew one and had it fixed {recent} It was because when I had the first tune up at 104K they didnt tighten one plug :banghead:
