Title: Fuel issues
Post by: -dc- on July 06, 2016, 08:29:20 PM
I'm looking for some advice from the group, I just got my boat and it started cutting out on me when getting on it. I later found green flaky crap clogged up my filters pretty quick. I cleaned out the filters a few times but it keeps coming. This trip I tried putting sea foam file treatment which may have broken some of the stuff up because now the fuel turned merky green running through the filters.

I looked at my tanks and the look like the original ones which are glassed into the hull, any recommendations on how to clean out these tanks with out cutting them out?!?!?

What color are your fuel hoses?

It sounds like methanol broke down the pvc.

You need alcohol resistant hose.  Just a WAG.

I have black rubber lines from the tanks to the fuel pump which are all brand new and then steel braided lines from the pump the rest of the way.

So just to be clear,  is there shit in the tank?

Can you pull the fuel senders? Sounds like maybe the floats are done.

I'll try to pull the senders if I can get to them. Need to pull the interior to get to anything...

Are your tanks made of fiberglass, or are they metal tanks fiberglass tabbed to the hull?

From the outside where they are exposed they look like fiberglass and look like they are fully glassed to the boat. (Not tabbed) I need to pull my interior out to get a good look at them though. Looking into them from the filler the appear to be metal on the inside.

think you might end up cutting those out and replacing them unfortunately.
