I got a 460 in my boat and I'm having some trouble with the carb. It's a holley I believe a 750 with mechanical secondaries. It won't start unless I use starting fluid but after that it idles fine. If I give it throttle it stalls but if I do it slowly it runs fine. Could it be the float level?

Sounds like the accelerator pump is no good.

I have a few other carbs around I'll try switching to see if it fixes it.

Look inside the carb while you actuate the throttle. You should see a steady stream of fuel spray from the discharge nozzles.

X2. With the engine off.... Or you might lose your eyebrows.

Found the problem I was drawing from both tanks and one of the tanks is clogged. Noticed not much fuel in the filter. Looks like I'm gonna be cleaning the tanks out
