Fuel Problem???
« on: December 03, 2014, 07:57:24 PM »
My buddy has a 21ft eliminator daytona with a blown 482 bbc that has dual holley 750s. He ran it labor day weekend and it ran perfect. The next time he took it out it ran fine at idle and on the trailer, but as soon as it got on plane it craps out and dies. It will fire right back up and as soon as you get on plane, same thing again. He replaced a bunch of ignition stuff, plugs wires, msd box, cap and rotor, and the battery thinking it was that, but it still does it. Hes not computer savvy and I told him I would see if any of the experts wanted to chime in or if anyone has had this problem before. Thanks Fellas.

I'll tell him to drain the tanks and the lines. He has a separator and he said he changed the filter too but I don't think he did anything else. Thanks jake

I think it's electric.

If he changed all his electronics already check to ensure his fuel psi is correct and carbs adjusted correctly.

What kind of ignition coil? Sounds like a coil is dropping.

Might try a spare coil.

Water was my first thought, or a collapsing fuel line on the intake side of the fuel pump.

He's running a mechanical fuel pump, not an electric. And we are going to mess with it today so we will see. Gonna probably drain the gas and start fresh there and I'll tell him about the coil.

He's running an msd blaster ss coil.

He's also checking the fuel lines today.

I to would say coil. When the coil gets a load on it and they are bad they shit the bed. Change the coil and run it
