Hey Guy's...here's the question...I have a 18 1/2 ft Challenger with a stock BBC and the boat came with an electric fuel pump,mounted in a poor spot I might add. Anyway,I was thinking of putting the stock one back on? What do ya think? And if so is it ran by a rod like the small block's? And if that rod is not in the motor, how hard is it to put in? Or should I just remount the elec pump in the proper place and run with that? I know one thing,it's kinda nice to start after sitting a bit with that elec fuel pump. Also, I've only had the boat out to the local lake a couple o' times since I bought it and it seems to "load up" at an idle,should I be running a pressure regulator on that that pump? I'm a newbie here and this is a pretty cool site!! 8) Tracy

Yes its the same as the small block is. pull the plug slide in the rod put the plug back in and install the pump..............as for loading up, maybe your carb needs a rebuild ???

Tracy, What fuel pump do you have now? I think a regulator should be used on most electric pumps. I switched from electric to mechanical, Clay Smith, and it requires a regulator as well. It could be that you are flooding the carb with too much pressure. Ralph and others have told me the 6 or 7 PSI is all you want going into the carb.

I have an electric pump in it now....what kind,i'm not sure. But don't most elec. pumps put out somewhere 'tween 12 to 15 psi?? I could be wrong...but,yeah I thought that Holley that's on there should only be about 7 psi. I was also wondering,with the loading up if I just may have a blown......uuummmm...I just drew a blank...the valve,i am gettin' old I guess...power valve..yeah that's it....lol.. I dont have a gauge to check what the pressure on the electric pump is...I think I just may go back to a manual pump and o-haul the carb(once I can find someone that know's how)Anyway's,that's where I'm at right now..... :banghead:

The Holley Marine puts out about 14 psi and requires a regulator and to take the psi down to the 6 or 7 psi. The Clay Smith requires a regulator too and it's mechanical. I'll have my carb and regulator set up setting on top of the manifold sometime today or tomorrow and I'll take a photo. I did have some custom machining done since I run an Edelbrock 750 CFM carb and wanted the Holley gauge and fuel filter system that I bought from Summit installed.
