When you first get it plumbed in, bump switch a few times to gradually bring the fuel pressure up. Once you here the pump load up, you can run it continuously. Just watch the bowl vents to make sure that fuel doesn't geiser. If a lot of fuel dumps down the carb into the engine, pull the plugs and crank the engine (ignition & fuel pump off) to make sure you don't hydrostaticly lock a cylinder. Also so that said fuel doesn't seep past the rings and contaminate the oil.
