Hey guys. I am trying to make to the avi trip. Last trip out was 6 months ago. I filled up the boat with fuel on second day. Then burned up my alternator . I ended up towing boat home full. About 40 gallons. Should fuel be ok or does it need to be pumped out? thanks . Bash.

If the tanks were nearly full, I would say you are ok. You might consider putting some Lucas fuel treatment in there, or some Siloo water remover, but I would say your fine.
Some things to consider;
What compression ratio?
If higher than 11:1, maybe pull half and add some premium.
What kind of gas was it to start with?
If 87aki, may consider pulling half and topping off with better fuel.
Have you pulled a sample?
May look like piss and not smell much better.
As always, have a quality water separating fuel filter with a spare cartridge.

Thanks. It is 91 octane. Should be close to full. I will put some lucas and top it off.

If tanks were close to full I would say your ok for the most part. There was very little room for empty space so moisture space was kept to a minimum I I would add some gas treatment and get ready to burn that stuff up. c u at the AVI trip !!!! 👍

I also have old fuel. It's from october. 91 octane. I'd say about 13 gallons. It won't start on this gas. But it will start on fresh gas in the other tank. Are you saying I can salvage this gas!?

Forgot to mention I have 2 26 gal tanks. One is about half full.

When you say won't start. What do you mean?
In all honesty, I'm thinking water in the bottom. Not the fuel itself.
The way you say it, if you pulled a little fuel out of the tank and poured it into the carburetor it won't burn. Is that the case?
Or will it just not start on that tank?
When fuel is stored in a tank that is full, there is no air space to sweat (condense) producing water in the bottom. Water is heavier than gasoline, so it can be separated out if you need to.
Whether a tank is stored at half full, several things happen. When it warms up, it gasses of pretty quick, this vaporizes the hydrocarbons that make fuel burn. The alcohol in most gasoline, used as an oxygenate, is mostly water, so it actually vaporizers much slower.
So what you have there could be a bunch of water laden tired gas.
Regular pump gas normally turns orange when it is no longer alive. It should be either clear, pink or look like apple juice. It depends on the additives.
Either way, the gas won't have the punch it did when it was fresh, but if it will start, I doubt seriously any of us could tell new from old. Besides the odor anyway.

That I haven't checked. I will check tomorrow and see if water comes out

As previous stated store with a full tank is best as it allows less room for condensate
Also fuel stable izer is worth the piece of mind. Fuel starts to lose Octane rating after a month.
Also fuel with N2 added helps fight air/condensate Ex:Chevron with Techron Shell also has some but I dont like Shell personally.
Worth a mention ONLY Corp Chevrons carry Techron in the fuel. How do you know which Chevron is a Corp one it will have a Extra Mile store.

I am going to have to pump mine out. One side is pretty empty and the other full. Been almost a year since it blew up and been sitting. Has 91 octane in it and some stabilizer, but still need to get it out. I guess pump it out.

I drain my tank after every season an run mystery oil/auto trans in each tank full. 2 months to me is to long for left around gas...

Now I'm curious both my tanks have been empty since January. Can I just top them off and run em? I just bought a water separator that I still have to out on

Lmao,
You should be fine. It's only when there is fuel sitting in the tank that they will sweat.
A water separator is an absolute must IMO.
