Latest racing engine build : CHRYSLER 542 Hemi

Pic's to follow.. Goal is 850bhp on pump gas , naturally aspirated

no nitrous

Sounds like a respectable goal. I'm shooting for the same HP numbers from a 512 RB block on race gas. Make sure you point out any little Mopar tricks to make them last longer. Always eager to learn.

Hemi update :

Here is why u should not over rev. your power plant

This guy spends $20 K. on this thing.... built by a famous builder with a good rep. Anyhay this is what followed.

1. This virtually had one day of running time.
2. #5 piston absolutely destroyed.... # 5 intake valve snapped off at the keeper groove location.

3. The cause of failure.... Over rev'd, piston up and hits valve,then tears the keeper/valve apart ...duh

20K...down the drain.

or were the parts in the motor not worthy of the rpm

titanium valves, retainers

pro stock reving 10k plus, but, built for it

A guy the other week did that, had a stout BBC, with a panther pump.... didn't know when to lift the throttle... 8000 rpm is crazy

Huh?
There must have been valve float going on. The Hemi bottom end is WAYYYY stronger that anything else out there. Because a hemi has the valves opening into each other on opposing sides of the engine, any valve float will kill it. Don't skimp on the valve springs.

Valve Springs checked out Ok..... Is valve float / Over revving not the same thing

Over reving can also snap parts unrelated to the valvetrain.

Were they Manley valves from U.S.A or the stuff from Argentinean, Bead lock or square lock,

or whos valves? Did it break at top of lock grove or bottom, We just bent five
valves 8500 alc 410 sbc broke two rods took block out valves bent but didnt break
or kill the head these were 49cc heads 2.050 valves I.M.C.A Mod car 20m KS

They broke at the bottom of lock grooves & they were Manley.
OVER REV. PERIOD .
Can't name the cyl. head manufacturer for obvious reasons

This Guy was running a blower on this thing too....

(He never mentioned that till today 871 )

2. Valve Float

at least all the parts were shined by gasoline
