Just about ready to drop in...getting excited..

Cooling system - Done
Valvetrain / Long block - done
Front of engine - done
Alternator mounting - cut a shim and done

Hopefully I get the boat back from Baja Trailers this week - and drop in...

Looking pretty good for several cans of paint and some unused junk in the garage

That aint a hemi! But hey neither is the "Hemi" in my truck... I too have been a proud member of the Mopar club for one year.

I love my truck, the only thing I should have done different was get the Cummins.

Why isn't the motor in your truck a Hemi?

Looks good Speedy Mopars, what's the specs on that bad boy other than the single plane?

My uncle's got the Hemi set up in his boat

it's a semi hemi. All the new hemi's aren't truly hemi's.

It's got a Hemispherical Chamber like a honda, so it's still a Hemi

It's not hemispherical. its semi hemi but squared at the top.

It's a little mishaped for a "perfect" hemi, but the spark plug is still in between the vertical angled valves

Finished the GM alternator mounting / belt / pulley up today (I have a new pulley in the mail). Works trick with the turnbuckle. Easy belt adjustment.

Yea, it's only a wedgie , not a hemoroid....

I decided to run the single plane + 850 DP - easier to break in a new engine with a single carb. A lot less to contend with.

It is seriously from junk in the garage. 1972 400 block (got lucky - I had a highly sought after 230 cold weather block, who would have known) bored .040 over.

1970 forged 3.75 stroke crank, stock 400 rods, KB hyper pistons

ported iron heads, 2.14/1.81 manley valves
Harland sharp rockers
Smith Bros pushrods
ARP studded everything

Herbert cam w/ 280 adv / 246 @ .050 duration
Cloyes double roller timing chain

Edelbrock marine logs
Nicson water injectors

And the all important 4 cans of Mopar orange paint....

Nothing special - we'll see how it runs...

Love it too! But a tad too much duration 292/248 and not enough lift :-)

Plus I haven't run a hyd cam in a long time so I'd have to buy new...

Now I think I can flip the manifolds and gain a little drop (the logs will be lower than the ex ports - maybe) but would it be enough to matter?

In that pic it looks like if you flip them you might have clearance problems with the spark plugs, but if its possible I think it would be safer

But let see what the experts say (note, he's running straight extensions after the logs , no snails).

I'm not one of the above mentioned experts, but, I would put money on water coming back into the engine if the exhaust is below or close to the water line. I have had water "forced" back through my snails from a large rogue type wave hitting the back of the boat without sufficient throttle. (I also had good condition flappers when this occurred) It just seems like that set up is asking for water lock.

I should also add that I am going to see where the water injectors end up vs the waterline. In the olds they were slightly above or at waterline, I think the BBM will be 7-10 inches above that. Too bad I don't know of any clear exhaust hose...that would answer the question pretty quick.

So the snails weren't even enough to keep out the water?

My friend had the same thing happen to his boat. He's got the high dollar Teague Marine 502, he killed the throttle right as a wave hit the back of his boat and hydrolock. He has the IMCO exhaust with mega risers and tube WAY above the waterline... Definitely keep that in mind.

I love the sound of the Mopars, totally different than the rest. You can always tell when a Chevy's coming, Ford's have their own tune-especially the 4.6's but those Mopars are just mean sounding. When one of our engineers here at work brings his little Mopar (528 Hemi) to work I'll try to get some video.

No, a bunch of wakeboard boats had stirred up the water pretty good and I was pulling my wife on a tube. I slowed way down to keep from capsizing in all the waves that were converging on me and got hit by a big one from behind. Stalled my engine and wouldn't even turn over. Since I was new to boats I had no idea what had happened. I got towed back to the beach and some cool neighbors told me to pull my plugs and crank it. LOTS of water sprayed out of one side. Needless to say when it still wouldn't restart we determined I sheared the dist pin. I dug up a stainless cotter pin that was just the right size and gingerly returned to the trailer. Between this and my melted exhaust line I am seriously considering going to OT exhaust. I just need to weigh the burn vs sinking/stranded factor a bit more.

I had a similar (sp) problem...........Thats why i wanted to go OT headers and i did

so now i dont have to worry about water in my engine............Unless i sink it
