I know this is an old post (well not that old lol) but...

Your ignition switch could be shorted. If you have a test light, with the ignition key off see if you have power on the coil wire.

If you do, disconnect the wires from the back of the ignition switch and check it again. If the light is no longer on, the switch is your culprit. If you still have power there, then you have faulty wiring someplace.
