Post by: Ckaz21 on February 10, 2014, 01:26:22 PM
I have a hardin marine 454 in my '84 Tahiti and it has 049 heads. Was wondering if they came stock with those heads? Also is there was to tell which engine package it is? Apparently they came with an option of a 330/454 and a 405/454..thanks for any info

Im pretty sure if you have 049 heads that would be the 330 package. To my limited knowledge the 400hp package comes with rectangle port heads and an aluminum intake.

Interesting. I heard that most 330hp came with the peanut ports.

Somebody probably upgraded from the peanut heads. You can also try to do a little interweb reasearch looking up the numbers on your block on google and see what you come up with. And one way to check would be to see if your crank is forged or cast. The 400hp would have come with a forged crank.
