Just a general question...my engine was built by Harman Marine in 1977 but I have also seen Hardin marine. Were these competing companies in the 70s? I don't see anything Harman Marine anymore but I do still see Hardin marine?

There's got to be good stories about this.
From what I've observed, Hardin seems to be very popular in the older v drive boats. OG maybe?

I the 70's Hardin marine was a Jacuzzi dist. and Harman marine was a Berkeley dist. Hardin alum parts were mainly produced by nicson and Hardin Hardware. and Harman used glenwood to produce there aluminum parts such as mounts and water logs

Awesome thanks for the knowledge share Jim 😋 was there any difference in the actual manufacture of the engines? My valve covers say custom built by Harman Marine on my 460.

Would love more info on Harman just for nostalgia sake.
