I am considering a cheap tbi setup to try to get more efficiency out of my 460. Has anyone tried this yet?

Why not MPI from a Ford truck?

You can install injector bungs in any aluminum manifold.

They make a plate to adapt a Rochester TBI on a carburetor manifold. I have one if you are silly curious.
Look up Howell efi. I have one of their kits and it's based off of the TBI from the 90's.
I agree with Joe. EECIV system is pretty easy and really available.

I was only considering the tbi from a 454 because it is more readily available, and cheap, very cheap up here. I am in the middle of the prairies, and all of the Ford parts I have found are pricey. Most of the Ford truck intakes are plastic, and have O2 sensors in the system. I'm not sure how I would get them to work with my water cooled logs.

I am very curious, how much are you wanting for it?

Eventually, this is the intake that I want.

That is milti-port injection, nothing crosses over from TBI. Better to stick with a carb until you have all the parts rather than going the wrong way down the wrong road.
Pick-a-part in San Bernardino is plentiful with BBF trucks.
Hilborn made a simple programmable MPI ECU that you can run in open-loop (not self-monitoring) without O2 sensors. Not sure if they still do.
I'm sure there are more programmable ECUs available now.

I do want a mpi, some day when I can afford it, lol. Was just curious about the tbi to see if I could get better economy out of it. I will be running with the carb this season to see how hard it is on fuel.

Just going to say it out loud.
EFI is never more efficient than a properly tuned carburetor.
Flame away.

I love my Predator carburetor easy to adjust good fuel mileage about two and a half gallons an hour

How big is your engine? What revolutions are you turning?
