Title: Headers for a CVX 20
Post by: cvx 20 on September 04, 2012, 10:13:45 AM
I have a 78 CVX 20 with a 460 in wanting to make it a 520   Was wandering if is possible to run a set of standard jet boat headers if I don't use the hood? And has anyone done this before. Thanks

Are you looking for over the transom or thru hull type headers?  If you are looking for over the transom, bassett headers and rewarder are 2 companies that have both styles.  http://www.bassettracing.com/ (http://www.bassettracing.com/)  and http://www.rewarderheaders.com/ (http://www.rewarderheaders.com/)  hope this helps.

I seen pics of a cvx done this way back east somewhere, (google it) and the typical bassetts/rewarders were kinda short, (didn't clear the transom) and some of the transom had to be trimmed. Maybe go thru transom water JACKETED headers, like lightnings. good sound and thru transom

I have spoke with Rewarder and basset. Both say not enough room. Rewarder has some over transom pipes that mount to my log manifolds and do away the j trap. Can I expect this to be enough to justify a 520 ci build or just stay wither 460. Don't care to spend the money if it helps. Thanks
