Just going to say it like it is.
If you have to ask. No.
You should have them gone through, throw the springs in the trash, have everything checked. In other words, spend another $300 on them and then maybe.
Buy reputable and do it once.
If I we're building a 400 horse cruiser motor, they may be fine, but not without going through them.

I hear the castings aren't bad but you need to buy them bare and use good parts and have them set up by a reputable machine shop

Well I'm not sure if the castings are bad or not but you have to take into consideration that the valve seats fall out and this is because of the cheap aluminum that they use I wouldn't waste a penny on his head I've been down that road.....

After I had a set of these heads come apart and drop a valve seat and completely wasted my motor ProComp gave me a free set I took them to Dugans engine and machine in Riverside all the valves are junk Springs are junk locks and retainers are junk the screw in studs and guide plates are junk and seriously after you replace all that stuff you cannot be guaranteed if the valve seats are going to fall out I can't say it enough to stay away from these heads.......😲😲😲

There is a guy in c.l tryin to sell one good procomp head for awhile now.. the other head dropped a seat and got destroyed!!!

I'm not necessarily sticking up for those heads and I myself run GMPP bowtie heads, but I believe one member on here is running them on a 700 hp or so engine with some spray on top of that and no problems that I know of. Maybe if you replace the seats they are less likely to fall out? I dunno. Or it's a problem that's been solved eventually by the manufacturer?

Castings are VERY thin... Especially in the rocker stud area and valve spring pocket area.... Really bad core shift, port matching may require some welding as I have seen them with the intake ports as much as 1/4" off... Seats fall out, they use shitty iron seats that pound the seat surface out and fall out partially because the tolerance for press is so horrendous, seen as little as .003" press (I prefer a minimum of .0085 and typically go for .009-.010 press with aluminum heads)... Guides are made from play-dough and wear out in minimal time. All in all... Buy these heads, spend double what you paid to fix them up and outfit with decent parts, and you still have a piss-poor casting. I find that 75% of the time people look at these shitpiles, they would be money, quaility, and often performance ahead dolling up a set of 049s with some nice port work and good parts. I mean seriously, how many guys buy these shitters for their 9:1 468 flat tappet deal... When a 049 ported and done up on a flat tappet 468 will support 580-600hp easily?

If the seller is clewwho40 I wouldnt buy anything from him. He is a local machine shop in Fresno. He is known to buy BBC cores and put stuff together with cheap parts and shoddy work.

not much to say other than it ended up being really shady and the guy was down right rude and unprofessional and he got one over me, I learned my lesson and luckily didn't end up eating the whole bill, I would say stick with reputable places and good heads, its worth it in the end. Its just one more think to worry about later on and saving 500 could cost you a whole lot more in a rebuild. just my .02
