Whats the difference between the manual heads and the automatic heads? besides the tranny. Does one allow for more rpm's??

From i get so far is that the automatics are small valve and the manual is big valve for the muscle cars. Sound about right? i got this off the olds website. I found a set of heads on Ebay and just want to get the right ones. G a w30

I sold a set of Ga heads on eBay, like $240 or something rebuilt. Good heads. Might be a difference on the Olds between stick and auto trans, I dunno, I seriously doubt there's a difference. Wouldn't make sense to have two different types of Ga heads...

No the G a heads are off a 1972 442 and a manual tranny. Should be a good deal. I HOPE. He wont answer my email for the shipping cost, i just hope i dont get raped if i am the actual buyer.

You can install big stainless valves in any of the 455 heads, and port them. Fill the crossovers with aluminum, weld the exhaust port bridge and they come out all the same, and cheaper than the Ebk heads. Read the "Practical Olds Motor" article in Hotboat from a year or 2 ago, it explains much about the shortblock too. TIMINATOR
