I have a gen.v 454 block, will the 781 heads work with this block? I'm told yes/no something about water passages

I think I remember that you can but you have to match the water ports from the GenV head gasket to the Mark IV heads.

Double pass the engine. Basically feed the heads through the thermostat housing and out of the rear of manifold. I will look for the article.

Yes with the proper gaskets now days you can bolt on a pair of Mark IV heads to a Gen V block. I did this to my 1994 Chevy crew cab dually with a Gen V 7.4L 454. I bolted on a slicked up pair of 1973 049 Mark IV heads to that block eight years ago and never had any problems.
