So I'm starting to get in over my head...
I went out to test all the things I've been working on and did not have my engine breathing properly. 😖🔫
I quickly created two oils leaks on the top back of the motor. It's coming from the two corners where the intake manifold seals to the block and corners of the heads. I've gone and bought new manifold gaskets and The Right Stuff for sealant. Before I get too far into this, which I've never done this before, is there a way to fix this without pulling the intake all the way off?
I'm really nervous about gasket material and old sealant falling into my fairly fresh motor.
I'll appreciate any and all input.

Honestly, no.
The intake should really come off. Just be careful and put some aluminum foil in the lifter valley and shove paper towels into the intake ports of the heads.

Pssst... Just keep the beer in the trunk until the boat runs again... :sly:

Thanks GT. I heard about the paper towels or newspaper and then shop vac them out to make sure nothing falls, great tip.
What's the best way to break current seal without pushing debris into intake?

Had to replace my intake gasket after I did the cam break in notice milky oil got some regular fell pros hast link since What are you running bbc. BBf

I re did the top end of my father in laws boat drinking all night till 2 am. But them again I'm a certified marine tech. Ha. Where you located. I'm always up to work for beer!!!

Good idea. Best yet , return the gaskets, buy some extra oil and a bottle of dawn dish soap...squirt some in the bilge and pump it out as it leaks... Fix that shit when summer is over.

if you're blowing intake RTV in the corners whats your crank/valvecover breather situation? you have adequate venting? do you have a hose going to the intake to suck out or are you just venting?

I had adequate breathing before... When I put everything back together I changed it up a little. I removed one breather for the time being because it was stuffed in the oil fill cap hole, it always had a slight leak because the rubber grommet didn't cover the two slots for the fill cap tabs. My plan was to pull valve cover and punch out the appropriate hole that's already stamped in the top middle of the valve cover.
On the other side I switched out the normal open grommet for a baffled one(too restrictive).
I stupidly thought this would work for a test run and this is what I got.

Save urself the headache and mess fix it correctly and put the engine at TDC before u pull the distributor so u can drop it back in easier when ur done!
