I believe I have a late 1980's 460 motor, in a 1978, 21' Tahiti Boss.
Is there a way to find out the year of motor?
Looking at getting better performance. I believe all is stock, points, stock manifold, not sure carb but a Holley.
Suggestion please..:-)

Get the numbers/ letters off the block same as the heads. It will let you know the year of each.
BAM!

Look for casting numbers on the side of the block and heads. Format is "D1VE", "D0VE", Etc. This will give you a starting point to at least know what you have performance wise, then you can go from there.
I don't want to ruin your dreams here but what type additional performance are you looking to get? Fords are not the easiest/cheapest engines to build substantial power in, minor tweaks can help but make sure you have a realistic goal or lots of $$$$! Post up the numbers you find and we can help with what you have currently.

This is what you are looking for. This shows it is from 71-78 if you need the exact year you will have to pull the intake. Here are two pics from blocks in my garage.
