Title: high rpm miss

Getting a miss around 4800 rpm. if i set the timeing at 8 degress i get a miss so i retard it to 4 degress the miss goes away but the motor will only turn 4500 rpm. what do you guys think distributor wore out? DID A COMPRESSION CHECK there all within ten pounds! distribuator is about 10 years old mallory YL with a ignitor 3 pentronics unit bran new                    . wondering if any of you ever hered of this before.

Set the timing at 36-38* at bout 2500 rmps. See how she runs on the top end

If its intermittent Look for a loose ignition wire or connection, maybe even the switch has become loose inside rom vibration.

ok lets start with the standards. carfully look at the points they may be old or dirty. also when was the last time you tuned it up????

No points, brand new pentronics ignitor 3 conversion.  but the distributor CAP is 10 years old!! replaced it with new runs good now..thanks for the imput guys. :banghead:
