Thought I would try to gather in one place pics of water line and fuel line install pics. I liked the MOO pictures elsewhere and several others a they showed really clean installs and some ideas on why they ran them that way. I am considering hard plumb (effect on diameter and flow) or going to stainles flex lines (ala my washer at home) as it would seem that a good leak or burst hose might sink my boat if the sump pumps cannot keep up. After some stories on this site it seems like this might be one of my most important first upgardes for safety/reliability.

I'd look closely at Boost's setup, just don't get any cleaner than that! I'm having a complete brain fart on who did the solid S/S lines on his SBC.......Bitchen!! :thumbup: Gave him a Bassett T-Valve too! Shit alzheimers is fun! PM HDriderTH (or better yet, Rivermamma, she's the real photo taker) for pics of his setup on his flatty. A lot of both solid and braided on it that looks awesome! TJSNordic's is just off the hook nuts! But then, none of us have a CNC manufacturing facility in our garages either.... :screwy:
What's wrong with your setup? Looks pretty clean to me other than I think I would run the hoses from the water outlet down to the stringers and then back up to the snails. They look a lil close to the log flanges to me for regular heater hose than I'd be comfortable with, but they're probably factory run that way maybe? Otherwise, looks fine.
Gimme a minute and I'll snap some of my Pickle boat (No siggy's guys....). Pretty clean for an original install with logs using all braided. Should be very close to what you're dealing with.

Here ya go. Just had a thought doing it too, Crewcheifs set up is nearly identical to mine, a lot more power, but even cleaner yet! ;)

Actually, I think I will still go stainless braid this fall when it cools off. I was out doing some maintenance on the boat until about 2 pm and came in as I was pretty hot. CHecked the thermometer and it was 112. Sheesh, time to head for th lake!

it's a mix of swagelok and ham-lok fittings, they're identical and interchangeable. The tube is 1/2" seamless 304 .035 wall. It runs about 3.50/ft locally for me. Waaaay cheaper than braided and AN fittings. It'll last longer as well. This winter I might have them all polished

1/2 in ss about the same dia as 5/8 hose then ???
I may have some ss in my barn from the old days. I remember making canoe handles out of ss micropolish and vcr fitngs. Because I could. Dang... if I had half the stuff I thredw away back in those days. I like the hard plump from a cost perspective too. The ss flex looks pricey. Tx foe pics...I am motivated finally

The ss tube is rated on the outside diameter, so subtract wall thickness and it's less than 1/2" but it has no problems keeping my motor cool. With hardline i bet the water flows easier anyways. The cheapest I could find braided locally was about 7 bucks a ft and the fitting wouldve cost me a arm and a leg.

I have done stainless hard line but used a 37 degree Parker flaring tool. Then you can buy the AN tube fittings with the little collar it comes with. You can get tube fittings at summit with a choice of a few colors too. If you are flaring you need to make sure you get annealed stainless which is available at mcmaster.com.

I used some aluminum hard line for my Bassett t. I just epoxied the little collor ends on 'cause the flaring tool marked up the tube and I couldnt get close to the bends.

swaging (ie swagelok, parker etc) is easy and does not require an additional tool. You can use a fitting to pre swage the fitting to the stainless. then you simply connect to the fitting (pipe to swage). These are a type of common compression fittings. Thanks for reminding me of this option. I am thinking lake water would be easy on the fitting/tubing and should work fine... if I can find my spiffy bender and remember the math.

if I get my ship together I will gladly help you do Moo. Make a schematic of what fittings you need or want and approximate tubing lengths and I can add it to my order.
I need to put together a parts list and identify a local upplier that is reasonable on the ss fittings and tubing, then order those in. Once I have the materials, I can do it easy, although I still cannot find my 1/2 tube bender so I will have to buy another.
Right now slammed at work so this wil probably wait until it cools off a bit as I dont work so well in the sun over 110f.

I don't blame ya. A little cooler today so I finally cut down one orange tree in the backyard this morning. Now I can get a few of these boats in the backyard, Moo included, so I can get my Saguaro into the garage and get on it. Hopefully today! :thumbup:
Not really gonna be a hot rod, but should be a fun boat! I'm kinda aiming it at being the "family" boat, we can all use out here and we can keep it at my Unc's place in Scottsdale. (He lives a few minutes from Saguaro and Bartlett lakes). Most of Moo's current plumbing will be robbed for that build. Moo's just gonna be done different this time. 4 pt mounts, JG split bowl on her JE pump, Cav plates (It has the recesses, just wasn't rigged with them) I could go on.
I'll get with you on the hard lines, it's how it's gotta be done this time. Right now, Moo's engine is at the shop. Gonna be a couple weeks before they can get to it for pressure checking, etc. I expect the block is fine, the C9 heads I got for it will be sent out for port work, dunno where this time, Maybe Lakesonly has some free time....... (Ralph shamed me into not using the D2's on it this time around). Still not real sure what it's gonna look like at this point, but E-85 and blown/injected might well be in the mix on it! Poor lil things been a good sport about all this, gotta toss some more ponies in it..... :screwy:

you guys are convincing me that my finally buying a vintage jet boat was a great thing! This forum and members remind me of the vintage mx crowd... helpful, knowledgable, and usually have more beer than me in the cooler :-)

here some crappy ones. I'm actully changing stuff around again. my set up is to good.lol motor never saw 140% and thats not good. I want it at 180%. I'll have to throw a morroso disc in the therm housing to heat it up more. doing away with the oil cooler and dry $umping

I was looking at old threads here (what a gold mone of info) and noticed some debate (?) on the free flow vs pressure reg on the bbc. Any current thoughts on that?
I see no regulator on mine, and since it runs about 140-160 underway suspect no thermostat.... Is that a BAD deal? p/o says no problem for years...etc

ps I run two gages, one on the intake as shown, and one sender in front of clock that runs to the gage at the dash (wanted to know whats really happening, and surprise, they pretty much match).

Heat = hp. until detonation. 180-200 is prime on a built bbc. I had mine at 130% and am making changes to bring it up. mostly a morosso them disc to slow down the flow a bit.

Put a blower on it you will build heat ;D. Really I went from 140 degrees N/A and then when I went blown I run a consistant 175-180 degrees. When I dyno'd it I had them run the water temp the same.
Also the debate regarding the pressure. Remember a car is a closed system and designed to run about 18 psi or so. I would not run anything on a Jet boat more than 20PSI otherwise you may be blowing intake gaskets or freeze plugs with too much pressure.

the way i think of it, my deal has been setup without a pressure regulator for 41 years. so i run it that way and its fine

f I have a reason to pull it all apart then that will be different. Right now the truck is down so my prioroities are to get the tow vehicle running again before the weekend so I can go to the lake again.

I'm gonna to have to agree with TJ on this one. Running more than 20psi through you engine is not helping anything. You can easily put a pressure gauge inline with your system however, my pickle has one before the engine whereas I think it should be after the engine. I do intend on making that change on the Tahiti.

Man I wish I could throw a whipple 305r on it. No funds. Got to get the sand toys ready soon. Mucho upgrades this year on those. boat's gonna have to wait for a blower or >:D twin turbos till next year :'(
