how many mpg do u guys get?

Too my boat to elsinore and went 3 3/4 of a lap and out of fuel I have a 454 with a bigger cam not sure it was installed by previous owner it took 28 gallons. Is my boat u sing too much gas? If is that norm, it's my first jet boat that's why I have a newb question thanks and advance for the replys

I'm at roughly 2+ mpg Hold a milk carton/gallon upside down...that's about how quick they can use gas.

I squeezed almost 5 laps around Elsinore on 12 gallons and that was 2500-3k the whole time

I have been trying to use up old gas for a year. I have a dozen laps at 32-3500 rpm and I have only used about 1/3 of a tank. Big heavy boat with a good tight Olds too, underpowered for the job.

For many of us...it's Gallons per Mile......

At least on the river you can float down and make up for the upriver shenanigans tho!

You can't realistically figure it in MPG, you really have to figure it in GPH.

A jet hp curve should answer this question for you, figure for BTU's per HP, you are obviously running it pretty hard, your car would do the same thing if you ran it WFO up a super steep mountain.

'lil bowrider sbc, ~5 mpg

I ran one hard loop around Elsinore then two just cruising. Also poked around the cove and idled up the west side of the lake looking at camping areas and launches. Used 10 gallons.

I would have burned all 20 gallons if I kept me foot in it for three loops.

It will be interesting to see how much more gas I burn after the new carb goes on. Because now I can probably go 6+ laps mixed rpm's. Done it multiple times and have had from 1/8 to 1/4 tank left of what I believe to be 40 gals.
But going from a 650cfm single to 800cfm double.

Big bend (South of Laughlin) to pirate's, up to the dam, pull the tube a little, thrill some wake board people and head back to launch... 27-30 gallons well worth it out of 40 gallon capacity.

Wasn't always that good. I had an electric fuel pump that was over feeding my carb all the time. I used to have to cruise to Pirates and top off just to not worry about getting back to the trailer.

I ran down to steamboat in Havasu this saturday and I believe its about 8 to 10 miles away from the Havasu marina and I only used about 5 gallons of gas. And was running at about 3-3500rpms.

460 BBF in a somewhat heavy Hallett jet and I'm at about 2 mpg. I've made the mistake of not filling the tanks all the way and that made for a long float at the end of day a once, just glad we were up river!

Went topock marina to lazy Harry's saturday and my 21 team Hawaiian with a 454 used 30 gallons my old challenger with a 460 ford had less than 1/4 tank in each 11 gallon tank at lazy and need 10 gallons from avi to get back!
