I think Jim Brock has some Olds stuff, I doubt he'd give it away, but I know it'd be cheap.

what olds parts are you still needing. i dont have any but i have access to 4 complete motors that are waiting to get rebuilt anyway. so if you need some parts off them i can probably get them. all you would have to do is show up at the next socal jet boats meet. so we can see what you did with the parts

I am always looking for a high nickel crank and heads for a 455.  The cranks are marked with a big N and found mostly in Toro's and marine motors.   The heads I don't know much about other than mostly all are similar in performance (LOW performance at that).   I will be in Ridgecrest for the GP at the end of the summer.  Keep me in mind.   ;D

I know that generally C or D are the perfomance models.   But they made 10 diff. letters of the alphabet and most are not really much diff in performance one from another.   I have J's and they won't be going back on a new motor.    I know where some max perf ported C's are for $1200 but I am more interested in piecing together the shortblock first.  If I ever finish this project I will probably go E-brock so I can run more compression.
I know of a monster of a shortblock for sale (teflon coatings and BBC SCAT rods) and the guy has no luck unloading it for $3900 but I am a broke SOB so I will keep scouring the junkyards for now.

THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT IS HELPING! I am still looking heres the back round on the engine when i got it the cam was off 180 degrees and i fixed it then it ran great and i went to the lake and lasted 10mins i heard the knock so i slowed down i knew it was coming and it froze thank god there was another jet boat out there to tow us back i ripped apart the motor and the rod is distroyed and the block is shot no chance in houning it out and the piston was gone pieces every where. So pretty much what im looking to do is piece a good engine back togther or go to a chevy and get a marine app some how for it. again thank you to all of you for helping me out.

Gonna throw this out there because in thinking about it, I confused myself....How in the hell do you install a cam 180* out?, just rotate the crank 360* and it will be straight up....The cam turns 1/2 the speed of the crank... :screwy:

My guess would be water intrusion or improper clearances...Just my .02$

The guy who built it lined up the lines on the intake stroke so if fired threw the intake he was an idiot for sure some people shouldn't think they know how to do everything

Sooo the distributor was 180* out....  It would be really difficult to install the cam 180* out because the index mark would be nowhere near the cam gear....the crank turns twice speed of the cam....180* out would be 90* off on the cam, just trying to sort out what could have happened to her....
