Nitrous and fuel pumps....
« on: March 18, 2016, 07:19:30 PM »
Hello,
I finished up installing my NOS kit, we fire up the boat testing the fuel solenoid to see if my mechanical fuel pump would work, pressure dropped motor stumbled. after de arming it was fine, my friend said think you need to run a holly red or blue just for the nitrous only since it can't feed the carb and fuel solenoid at  same time. I run a fuel switch for both tanks so I can run on 1 tank then switch to other. then 1 main line to the mechanical pump,

MY question is: after the fuel filter from main line can I " Y " it off to feed the electrical pump then up to the NOS fuel solenoid? Then when I arm the NOS system it kicks on the electrical pump? It's not like im gonna be squeezing all day long just a cpl burst when im feeling excited lol. Then when I de arm the NOS system it kills the electrical pump, Does this sound about right?

Or does anyone else have a better idea? I DON'T want to run 1 tank just for nitrous.

BTW I can pick up a holly blue with regulator...

Also I'm running 125 shot according to edelbrock there plate runs 6.5 pounds?

Thanks for any help or suggestions, and if you have any diagrams would help? LOL

For now, I am going to only suggest running your filter after the pump.  It is much easier for the pump to push fuel through the filter than it is to draw through the filter.

Another option, if you are worried about FOD (Foreign Object Debris) in your tank and just can't live with the thought of that going through the pump, run a 100 micron filter on the suction side and a 5 micron on the pressure side.

So, no restrictions on the pump inlet?
