Got her running again.  Bought a fresh motor off of my neighbor for $1200.  Dropped it in, fixed the crazy wiring to make it simple, replaced Mag with MSD Ready to run and blaster ss coil.  It only turned over when we went to fire it.  Has a Mag ignition switch  :banghead: . jumped the 2 terminals and she fired!  one question: Can i move a couple wires around to make it fire with the starter?  4 position switch with 5 prongs on back.
position1: off, position2: fuel pump/run, position3: nothing, position4: starter. position4 springs back to 3 then i have to switch to 2.  lol

Check to see if pos. 3 has power at the switch, if it does, use that for your ignition system/dizzy power. I have seen switches that DO NOT have power to the dizzy in the start/crank position, and had to wire it accordingly (similar to a points setup-resistor bypass)
that SBC sounds pretty good
