High strung chevy 350 vs 455olds

I have a chance to put in a Built Chevy 350 in the boat. But it had a 455 olds whats the pros and cons on that? I can get this motor for $1000 or rebuild the 455 after i find some heads. What would you do?

Yes i know i will need new motor mounts and exhaust, starter but what else? Impellor maybe.

Good news i can get the boat in the water again soon. But im not sure i would be happy with the sb chevy.

I had the same idea as you do. I could build a small block for less it would be a spunky motor. Anyways jets do not seem to care for smallblocks a whole lot. I have ride in 3 that were fast but they had to have different impellars (like a B or C) and just seemed to lack a little. Jets love Big Blocks I would stick with that.

Use at least a 383 stroker, RPM airgap intake, good heads (180/195 cc runners), cam 230 at .050 with a quick ramp rate, Basset or lightning exhaust, 9.5to 10.0 comp, tight quench area, FORGED pistons, and you probably won't even have to cut the impeller unless its a AA unit. Don't skimp on the quality of machinework, and you will piss off a lot of people! Try and half-ass it and YOU will be pissed off. TIMINATOR 623-877-8553
