Electric fuel tank valve

Anyway to test it to see if it's working without have to run engine? I'm seriously thinking of just buying some ball valves at Lowes and plumbing them in, but it's such a hassle to climb back and switch them (not to mention it's not good to run the motor out of gas).

i have a machanical valve, you can get them from rex or dana, easy to install and uscg approved. also i have 1 fuel guage and two sending units and i just have a toggle switch to go back and forth between sending units. as soon as it hits empty, i hit the switch and turn the valve and away i go. without running the tank completely empty.

screw that. go down to autozone or any parts store and get an electric fuel switch from and old chevy or ford truck. they work great and i never once had a problem with mine on my day cruiser.

if your current one works you should be able to hear it click when you flip the switch to change tanks

No complaints with my setup from Hose Man. Let em both drain evenly and turn off the empty one if you run low.

The teflon I started with leaked so I used motoseal non hardening thread seal. Just keep it off the first couple threads and bada-bing.

That's what I did on my last boat. I have the ball valves on my work bench. I would just need hose fittings and clamps.
