I know you have a stock BBC, do you know what heads are on it?  Oval port or rectangle port?

Also what intake manifold are you running?

I like the Fel Pro Performance gaskets but there are several available.

Also is there a difference for automotive and marine?

Manifolds, yes, gaskets, not really,  although they would like you to think so.

Fel-Pro, Cometic, Victor, they're all pretty darn good.

I should use black silicone on the end rails and around the water ports correct.

I use the Permatex Ultra Grey RTV in place of the supplied end gaskets.

I've used the Fel-Pro Performance gaskets with good results.

A true marine intake manifold has brass inserts cast into the water ports, when I get home I will snap a picture or two.

Water never touches aluminum in a marine deal.

Ok thank you, what kind of problems can i have without those brass inserts. A buddy of mine owed me some money and instead he bought me a brand new manifold i don't think either one of us gave that any thought. Crap.

How long do you expect it to be left in the water? If just for a few days at a time, you will be just fine. There are thousands of non marine aluminum intakes out there.

On a big Chevy, it is imperative that you follow the GM torque sequence.

Good hunting brother!
