Title: Leaking Valve Cover

So i got new fabricated valve covers with baffles, etc.  They came with rubber gaskets.  Are these worth a shit?  One side keeps barely leaking.  Before i buy any kind of silicone i wanted to make sure that it would not better just to buy different gaskets, maybe cork?  Any advise would be much appreciated.

If you have neopreme(sp?) gaskets, I think they are supposed to be put on dry(no rtv). I likey the cork ones, and just silly cone the valve cover side so I can reuse them.

i would check for small hairline cracks around the leak first. A crack in the valve cover could cause the leak. Depending on the material, could be fixed if it is cracked. If you are POSITIVE there are no cracks, i'd look into the cork.

Which valve covers did you get?  I have mine custom made and engraved.  They are pricey but do not leak.

I recently looked at some cheaper imported ones and even at less than have the cost of mine, I would not put them on an engine that I build for someone.  The flange was thin, crude and rough, and nowhere near straight, I placed two of them flange to flange.
