thats a really nice looking push rod ;D
-
i know rt tried to rotate engine yesterday it wouldnt n found this today bright side i got another motor
-
probably happened because theres a fuel pump mounted where the carb should be.
-
ouch lol thats the new motor what is difference in street and marine tolerances ????????????
-
Marine is set a little looser, I believe. And what's the 8ba going in?

Not really first thing, pull the heads and check the decks for cracks. 8ba's are more prone to cracking than say a 59a. But just do your basic pull down of heads intake and timing cover. Should tell you a lot. If you want I pic someone's brain, call H&H flathead in montrose/ la crescenta.

short answer, yes. I have a fresh 460 in my boat that was built for the street. You just need to be a little more carefull with it. ie making sure the motor is up to temp before getting on it hard. Put it in you will be ok

the motor in the boat know is a d0ve with port n polished d3ve heads the motor on the stasnd is a d0ve with d3ve heads i dont know what crank is in either i was told boat motor built by skull marine in vegas but i really dont know new motor seems to be well put together but i just read that the intake and exhaust open times are shorter in a boat to prevent water in combustion chamber thats done with the cam difference. i know i bent the push rod but havent got to lower end yet to see what else could be wrong i can always frankenstien both motors to one nice boat motor by swapping cams n heads, but i want water now i dont know what to do :banghead: :screwy:

If you're talking about the valve cover gaskets, it really doesn't matter (I prefer cork, but that's just me).
The different tolerences is required because of the open cooling system (cold lake/river water running through a warm block with hot pistons & heads).
Most important is cylinder wall clearances so you don't score or stick a piston. Rod/Main bearing tolerances are run a little looser due to the constant high rpm that a marine engine is subjected to (how often is the big block in your truck run at 4500rpm+ for 5-10 minutes straight?)
If you're willing to go through the work of changing the engine several times and are willing to wright off a new engine if it fails... go for it.
And like SuperJet noted, be sure to get some heat into the engine before you stab it run the sh!t out of it.

ok so took oil pan off and found #410-99 on oneside of piston and C on other but cant find them online they have been ballanced and appear to be aluminum could not see cam numbers and crank had machine shop notes on em turned down .20 and polished oil pump # 32/4314 on side small tag on it says hm84d 94062a im gonna see if i can find it so if i need new one or just pick up

Looks like a stardard volume M84D truck pump and forged TRW L2404 pistons (22cc dish)....unless you have a 429 crankshaft in which case the pistons are TRW L2366 flat tops.
As far as whether the engine may be used in your jet boat or not or not, it depends on the clearances when it was set up. If it has standard specification passenger car clearances then roll some fully-grooved main bearings in it and it ought to be okay. That's what Ford did for the 460 engines that were divered to factory Marine 460s.

Call me directly and I'll be happy to suggest the correct oil pump for your combo, whether it is one that we sell or not.
