Title: Loosing rods and roller

Keep bending rods and breaking rockers everytime u take my boat out . Has anyone ever had this issue before ?
1977 liberty 454 BBC Berkeley pump
I recently got a new motor runs good for a trip then starts knocking keep bending the 3/8 rods replacing them and same thing rod number 7 is the main issue

Spring Shims?
Valve adjustment?
Wrong push rods?
Wrong cam?
Wrong rockers?
Valve stem seal too high?
Wrong Springs?
Wrong rotators?
Valve float?

Sounds like either coil binding or rocker slot binding on the stud at full lift, would be the two most common culprits that are easy to check... and doesn't involve pistons crashing into valves (other damage other than just bending pushrods and breaking rockers).
