For a stock BB chevy with cast pistons.
I need to know what the piston to wall should be and the main and rod journal clearances..
And ring end gap . Thanks. Ok here's another one. When adding a new balancer and HD flexplate , do you have to rebalance the rotating assembly ?
Soooooooo give me some tech advice first , and then talk your shit ;)

Whoops, just realized i posted in the wrong section.Sorry

rule of thumb .001 for every inch of journal. piston and ring should be whatever the manufacture wants

How can i find out what the manufacture recommends on stock cast used pistons
I checked piston to wall clearance with a feeler guage and it showed .oo5 - .006 I know its not very accrurate but its all i had :D

Those used cast piston life expectancy wont be very long in a "marine" application . I really dont think they are up to the task .

Well unless i find a decent used engine...........
I got to do , what i got to do

I think better money spent would be to buy forged pistons on the stock rotating assembly . (https://www.socaljetboats.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10034/twocents.gif)

And that means more money spent on machine work..
I can't explain my situation , but its not good at this point..... and i might have to take the easy way out
-
You know what , your plan doesnt sound wrong . Your motor is not going to explode and level Bullhead . As long as your nice to it and try not to hot rod it too much , it'll hold up a while . At least until you get some money for some better pistons and get your ducks in a row so to speak . Of course we dont know your situation and if this is what your have to do , this is what you have to do .
With the cast pistons , they will expand more than a forged will . Try and get a recomondation for the piston and ring clearances from the manufacture , and remember to be nice to it ;D

Yeah, thats the hard part . Be nice to it...... I know i will run it hard and treat it like my G/F :banghead:
-
easy way to remember to be nice to it. don`t treat it like your girlfriend, treat it like your mother. lol.
