Title: MAx RPM
Post by: Factory502 on May 09, 2008, 01:22:06 AM
I have  a mild 454 with a torker 2 manifold and the most I can get is 4000, maybe 4100 RPM, does this sound legit or do you think there could be other issues?  Last boat would run 5100 RPM, different pump and a performer intake- thoughts???

Need more info on the pump especially the impeller cut.

With the info provided, unless it's got a BIG (AAA, ?) impellor you've got something going on there.

I have not been into the pump yet, is it stamped on it to were I can look down the nozzle up back up the intake to see it???  It is and early Dominator 12-s, the guy I bought the boat from had records of motor, trailer, etc, but nothing about the pump-

You'll need to pull the impeller to find out the size.  Maybe there is another way -but I don't think so.  Unless your tach is off or your engine is anemic -I'd think w/an A or AA you should see closer to 4500-5k.  To give you an idea, I have a stock 454 (~400hp) and it will spin an A to 4800-4900 on a tight pump.

From what I remember the Torker 2 manifold was a piece of crap except for really low rpm (great for a 1 ton truck but not a boat).

If your not ready to go into the pump, up date the intake to start.  Try a Performer or a better single plane manifold.
