Sorry I don't have the link, I know i'm useless but it's on merc site somewhere. I'm in a hotel right now and the internet sucks!
My friend works there and told me about this engine awhile ago but still didn't reveil too much info. I would ask him question's and he would say no comment. The engine has been in the works for 3 years, on the dyno for 2 and in a boat for 1. It makes 1350hp and 1300ft lbs @6,300-6,400 (I forgot what he said) and comes with a 1yr warranty. You can only buy it with it new number 8 drive. It MSRP's for 204,000 but he thinks dealers will get them for 145,000ish. The first production run will be 40 unit's and the guy that owns MTI boats wanted to write a check for all of them at the show I guess. I don't think merc will allow that though.
It's about time the boat guys have stepped up in technology. They've always been 20 yrs behind the times in engine development. You can't excactly say a BBC with a whipple, a 14 or that swedish blower they use and some EFI is new technology that most guy's use. Merc has tested this to 8,800 for houndreds of hours on the dyno with no issue's whatsoever. If a formula 1 motor can go 20,000rpm I don't see why a 557 bucket motor can't go 9,000-10,000.
He sent pictures to my phone over the weekend from miami boat show but they kinda sucked. He says it's all over the web but like I said I'm away from home and don't have the patience to search this slow ass internet sevice.
I bet this will put quite few boat engine shops out of buisness! Why would you buy a 1,300-1,400hp sterling, teague, eikert whatever that you have to send back at 30hrs for a 25,000 rebuild when you can buy this and beat the fucking piss out of it with a warranty for almost the same money. The guy's that are building boats like a MTI or nortech got the money for this anyway!
Merc doesn't even warranty there 1075 because they can't get them to go a year without lifter, pushrod, rocker issue's.

Who let this guy in here? ;D
Dealer cost on that engine is more than I paid for my house!

Interesting technology. I'll stick with my good ole big block Ford!

Sounds like a bad ass setup, but is that actually the right price?
