Would you use the msd ignition with the ready to run distributor?

MSD works well under about 4,000 rpm. Once the revs go much past that it works like a conventional CD box. Imho the engine will run cleaner and crisper with it and have more reserve flame front at wide open throttle.
Not only that, but you have the option to utilize a rev limiter.

MSD boxes are kool provide multiple spark to plugs below 3000 rpm or soo. Eaze starts an better low, low rpm running. Whole bunch'a other stuff I really don't understand. Good stuff no doubt. Look cool to. That's the ignition boxes your talking about right?

The box utilizes the signal from the distributor and switches the coil. And to answer your question directly, yes it can be used in conjuction with the RTR.

idk if the blue one is really any more sealed than the red one
ive had a 6a box apart and id be amazed if any water got into that thing
in my boat i have the GM Performance PArts ignition controller (made by MSD part number 6012) and up til recently it regularly was getting wet from my headers
it still works grest

The blue indicates it is a accepted "marine" component. Other than being potted in urethane and better connectors, pretty much the same module.

If you take your time, you can mount it somewhere that will keep it dry. But I know how cool it is for it to be mounted to be seen. I mounted mine under the gunwale. Took my time and made it as neet as possible. Water never touches it.... Also consider a good quality HEI unit. I had one on my previous boat and it was very simple to wire up. Just lock out the vacuum advance

I went with a summit billet small cap distributor, msd 6a box, and a msd blaster high vibration coil in the bahner
Runs awesome. Might be an option. And the small car distributor looks nicer imo

I just bought a tunnel ram and the HEI is to big around for it

I need to sit down and figure out a good spot to put it. My boat sits in my driveway so I would want to keep as much hidden as possible.

I mounted mine on the transom as high as I could so it's pretty well out of all the elements and it stays pretty dry.
