Title: MSD 83506 magnetic pickup to msd 6AL
Post by: electrowoman on August 05, 2009, 11:31:38 AM
I picked up the distributor today but naturally no paper work  :-\
Any how the info I did dig up says to use the Violet and Green wires to the 6AL.  (6AL paper work)

The distributor hook up I saw was right to the coil and never mentions using the 6AL at all....

I figure that's because the marine box is more expensive  :)

Has anyone hooked one of these dist. up to a 6AL??

If not I guess I'm going with the Violet and Green.

Next question is which wire is - and wich is + on the dist.  There are 3 wires Black Ground, red and
orange.

The dist was only used for an hour.  I questioned that but the gear doesn't even have a shiny spot yet.
He said the guy was breaking in his new motor, changed the oil and the old filter gasket stuck.

It blew his motor when it ran out of oil.

I hope you guys can help out, I hate to guess at wires....

That's the info I came up with.  It doesn't address the 83506 to the 6AL.

I saw one hook up that showed the
red to 12V+
orange to the msd white
black to ground.

I just don't want to blow the trigger out.

It's supposed to be a magnetic trigger and the 6AL paperwork shows the other hook up without
the white wire.

If no one knows for sure I'll go with the above

Heres the   Instructions Manual http://www.msdpower.com/download/83506.pdf (http://www.msdpower.com/download/83506.pdf) on the 83606  You  will not  be using the  Green and violit wires. I  ran into that  problem  when I hooked up my magnetic setup  in my  sandrail.  Heres the  instructions   for the  msd 6al http://www.msdpower.com/download/6420.pdf (http://www.msdpower.com/download/6420.pdf) I hope  this  info will  help you.
