i know there's been talk about car or truck motors going in boats. how about dropping a mercruiser engine into a truck? would it work in my land cruiser?

Really no reason why not. May consider a cam change for something a little more bottom end friendly, but otherwise should work killer.

The real only problem you may have is dialing in the ECM to run clean at cruise (boats don't get a high vacuum cruise too often.. ), I may have the right software for that system, don't know how tuneable it will be. 

Hope you're not concerned with fuel mileage...

the 525 efi picture was the only one i could find at the time  . more like a 350 mpi.

yea i kinda thought cam change too. but mechanically usable? machine tolerances ok?

Not too much special about a Mercruiser engine, not like a jet boat, I/O's typically are designed to run 140-160*F, you should be GTG...

Just keep in mind these are open loop EFI....Read; no O2 sensor...
