So I took the boat to the shop today... Told them what's going on/ what I'm having problems with. They tell me they don't think any of it is gonna be warranty work. As you can imagine I'm quite enraged considering I've had the boat less than a month. The f*ckin thing has an exhaust leak on the left cylinder bank and is losing power badly. Not to mention the increased fuel consumption. To top it all off it was a quart low on oil!!! WTF!!!!

how can they justify that its out of warranty?
id dump it on their lot and hand them a lemon lawsuit >:(

I agree with Brad. Thats a bunch of BS. Tell them you will smear thier name all over these boating web sites telling everyone about the great service you have received. Good luck.

I'm going to give them a chance to not be douche bags. I already called Supreme (Kal Kustoms) and they told me everything would be covered under warranty. If the dealership refused to cover it the owner of Kal Kustoms told me he would get it done somewhere else and they would provide no future accomodations to that dealer.
So far, I'm going about it the nice way. We'll get their response today sometime, otherwise their office is gonna be turned into a windowless showroom for a Sky Supreme 220. And I'll be towing my old Caribbean jet home with me. She's sitting in the same spot I left her in, looking untouched. I miss her more and more

If ya gotta have a wave boat go Malibu or Mastercraft. Both companies put out superior products and back up their stuff 100% from what I have seen. Sorry about your problems, car dealers have been doing this to me for 30 years.

The only problem I had on the old boat was the one where blue and red lights kept following me.....
Just got off the phone with the dealership. They're charging me for parts on minor stuff like gaskets and an electric blower (the motor fried), a breaker, new bilge pump, I think that's it. $78 They claim it's going to take 8 hours of working time because they have to pull the motor. So they're covering labor charges. As for Master Craft and Malibu they are the most poorly constructed (not to mention overpriced) boats in the "Wave" industry. They shoot the fiberglass into the mold so there is no uniform thickness to the hull... I have extensively researched all the boat companies and my family has owned a few ski boats over the years. Malibu/Master Craft = cheap construction and highest prices. They all stand behind their boats. The one I bought was a dealer demo with some hours on it, so it was sold as a used boat. Apparently it has a warranty on everything but the engine. So I'm paying $78 dollars. They faxed me a letter telling me that any more extensive problems found within the engine will be covered by them for the next 6 months. After that I'm on my own.

Talk to me when you have 400+ hours in three years like my brother. Never missed a beat, never missed a Saturday morning on the lake. There was a waiting list of people who wanted to buy an overpriced boat when he got his. He also got them to knock almost 30% off of MSRP. But yes all new boats are overpriced in my opinion. I hope everything works out for you.

I've grown up with people who built boats and jet pumps for a living. Hull strength and the quality of a hull's construction are two things the new Malibu and Mastercrafts lack. I guess I forgot to mention that these two companies started their new processes after 2004. So post 2005 for Mastercraft, and post 2004 for Malibu are the boats I am talking about. My uncle owned a 1995 Mastercraft Prostar 190. That was a bitchen boat.

That's really sad to hear, another quality name(s) going into the toilet for the sake of the bean counters. I had not heard that about either of these companies. Friggin ridiculous for the $$$ to build a hull like that. I need a beer.

yes, I said wave... With my boat, it's not a problem with the hull, interior etc. It's a problem with the mercruiser power plant. Mercury sure does take some short cuts in designing their product.

Is that Mercruiser AMC? Wasn't it AMC that bought Harley a long time ago and ran it's name into the toilet and it took some American businessmen to buy it back and make the motorcycle it once was?

No. That was AMF. They made sports equipment and other stuff, but not motorcycles. No wonder they almost killed Harley.

Boats back. Runs great. Has 118 hours on it. I've been out nearly every day after work for at least 3 hours. Both days on weekends. Make friends fork up $10 each for gas, and it all works out.
Dealer took care of any problems/concerns I had and even fixed a few things I didn't notice.
It's a chevy 350 block, so typically there are four bolts for the exhaust manifold or headers, well mercury marine decided they would be geniuses and cut it down to two bolts... The holes are in the block, but not the manifold. So to make a long story short, they are known to blow the gaskets out on the exhaust ports where there isn't a bolt close by.

can you drill 'em for more bolts? lost a couple header bolts yesterday, new gaskets, found 'em in the hull

very slow, did not spend any time on it last week or this weekend, went to the quad races instead, will update thread and work on boat this week though

I guess I could drill them... I think I might just go with some used aftermarket IMCO's for a SBC. I have to find them first. Teague told me those IMCO's are good for 30HP on the little SBC. I don't know how right or wrong they are, but my caribbean (454) with headers would hit 5800 RPMs vs. 5200 w/ TT wet logs.

So the boat did great. Hardly know the damn thing is running at idle.
Here are some pics from this weekend. I've put 8 pounds back on since being sick and losing a grand total of 21 pounds within a week, so I was feeling up to being behind the boat finally.
