I've done it on 180 HP 305's up to 500+ HP 454's.
Easiest on the engine stand, cold beer in hand, and ~10 plugs for a typical V8. I have never used the washers.
Does it help? I don't know. It can't hurt, right?

I asked Brule about this when i was at the dyno.. The opinion was kind of the same as trying to wring any more power out of my combination... Its not worth it in a boat

Yes, it makes power. Are we chasing ET? nope... is it going to get you another 5mph... probably not... Not going to get 50hp from it

Kind of like in my case, I wanted to make more than 450. But it made 450 with 28* of timing, and no touches to the carb except a powervalve change. He said we can probably get another 10-15hp out of it, but you wont notice a difference. Its safe now... why run on the edge

IMO lot of work/time to do it for minimal gains in a boat if any at all
