Got a pro comp ignition from my buddy that didn't need it anymore. Always like to gather info before I start things. Taking out the old time distributor. Got new wires new plugs. Anything I should know before I start? Timing, match marks etc...?

roll the motor over to TDC (top dead center) and on Number 1. Then put the distributor in and set up number one plug wire. Then follow the firing order. Then time it.

Quickest and easiest way to time a 460.
Roll the thing over until you are sure you are on compression stroke, #1 cylinder. Then use a TDC finder screwed into the spark plug hole, or me, personally, a straight piece of a coat hanger stuck in there. Buy rotating back and forth and I know I'm at TDC on #1, I use a white or silver Sharpie marker and mark the balancer (Which are usually off on their marks). Rotate it over again 2 times, while watching for your mark to start coming up, but this time watching #6 start with the coat hanger in #6 and rotate until RIGHT as the piston starts to go down. Make another mark. This is 10* BTDC. Drop in the dizzy with the rotor pointing at #1 cap post, viola!
Most of the time, you won't even need to ever put a timing light on it........ :beer: :beer:
