Need to Pickup a new starter by this Friday. Not sure what you guys recommend for quality brands. Also may be a stupid question but what the hell fits that housing style. My old starter works but a real shitty sounding crank. I have a bone stock 454.

I'm wanting to go Hi torque tho I'm guessing so it will fire right up first crank.

If you need it in a hurry just ditch the top mount and put a standard starter in it, if it has to be a top mount id hit up ron in the hi dessert or ernie in highland, im sure theyre both sittin on top mount bbc starters... good luck sir.. O0

If going stock, get one from an LS engine. Matching your flywheel teeth. Weighs much less than stock. And can be found anywhere should u have issues down the road.

I got one if you need it

So I ended up buying an IMI from quality power auto. The middle one pictured. Installed and went to turn the boat over and just sounds like it hits the flywheel and won't turn it over. Any suggestions. I measured the distance and same as old starter. Kinda stumped maybe wrong rotation but I brought my old one in and we checked it. Any ideas??

THATS WEIRD, I HAVE THE SAME STARTER , ENGINE AND BELLHOUSING. GREAT STARTER THOUGH. DID YOU ALREADY DOUBLE CHECK THE WIRING?
-
Can't be the wiring because it works just fine with the old starter. The only guess so have now is that it's not catching the flywheel. I measured the distances everything seems fine so really not sure at this point. Rotation is counter clockwise on starter. Which I'm being told is very uncommon

Viewed from rear facing flywheel starter needs to rotate clockwise to rotate flywheel counter clockwise as viewed from rear.
