Title: No clue what happend kinda
Post by: Rogers Hopeful on June 10, 2012, 08:52:38 AM
I was cruising up river and then got on it for no more then 10 seconds and went back to cruising (30mph). About 30 seconds later I lose power (ran out of gas so I switch tanks) and notice my water temp has shot up to 180* (usually barely lifts off 100*). Went to try to restart and it would turn over but wouldn't stay running. So I floated for few mins to check things out and noticed my logs were super hot. So I closed my water valve then opened it all the way. Went to start and it fired (with a lot of help from the gas peddle). Had to feather it to keep it running at idle. Got to cruising speed and water temp is at 140* all the way back. Parker bridge to big river park.
So did I suck something up in the jet that plugged a water line and it got hot?  It didnt technically over heat bc cars run at 180*.
I hooked up the hose when I got home and let the water run thru the motor (not running). Shut water off then started it and turned water back on. At first the logs were hot well warmer then usual and temp was at 140*. Shut off motor and let water run thru motor till water was cool coming out the exhaust. Shut water off, started it, turned water back on and it ran cool 100*-110* and the logs stayed cool?
Any ideas?

Edit oil looks fine not dark or frothy
