Title: No OIl in the engine

I went to start the Tahiti daycruiser for the second day out in havasu over the memorial weekend. The 454ci did not want to turn over I went to pull the dipstick and there was NO oil and oil all over the floor. There was no white milky oil in the engine but was all over the floor. What could cause this issue? The only thing i replaced was the oil gasket & lock tab nut on my panther pump & found out that i had pan gasket leak so i replace that when the engine was out.  I check everthing before i went out and prior to that week i even tested it so that i wouldnt get stranded out there luckly i didnt. Any help would be appreciated.

So, you ran it for 1 day and then on the 2nd day there was oil in your bilge?

I would say you have an oil leak ! But the leak is not why you had no oil in the motor. Your boat would look like it was flooded with oil if you had 6 or so quarts siting in your boat . I'd say you were burning oil as well as some sort of leak.

Yes ran it for 1 day then I pulled the drain plug and water & oil was white so that's when I pulled the dipstick and found out there was no oil. I cannot locate the leak if there is one.

I had a cruiser in the 90's that ran great and overnight the bilge was full of engine oil. BIG MESS!!!! The problem turned out to be that one stringer was dust. This allowed the engine to sag just enough for the oil pan to be punctured by the jet shoe. The bolts that were used to set the shoe didn't have heads on them, and were a little long. I had no idea the pan was in the danger zone. You bet I ground those suckers down after I replaced the pan and stringer.

I don't think it's the stringer bolts it sits level.

Maybe drain plug vibrated loose. Do you have the drain kit hose attached to the pan? Could have been chaffed through.


I would say fill it back up and get under it with a flash light.
