so im trying to go float tonight at the lake with the hunny, we got a sitter!!
charging up the batteries, new alt belt! ( thanks brad)
i fired it up to check the charging system, looked at the gauge and no pressure....
wiggled the wires, tapped on the sensor, tapped on the gauge no response...
i have a back up electric gauge i just wired up gonna mount it on the motor somewhere and recheck it
not sure if its sender specific?? but ill try it.....i think i have another sender too somewhere..
i do have a manual gauge too, but no hardware! and no cash

with your luck with motors i would find an oil pump primer (think brad mite have one) and check for oil pressure that way, so if there is a mechanical problem you dont hurt the motor any more

X2 Ralph! Next, get it over to Terry's, I'm sure he's got a mechanical guage to prove/disprove an electrical failure.

no pressure.... :banghead:
to same sensor,
with power and ground hooked up i ground the sensor wire to outside of sensor and it sweeps 0 to 80
i fire it up and i get 0 psi.....i quickly shut it off and it holds at 45 psi
i un connect the old sensor wire and recheck new gauge same thing.....
i ground old sensor wire to outside of sensor, and old gauge sweeps the same too....so what does this tell me?.....my digital meter is on the floor of the truck.....and not here
i hAVE ANOTHER SENSOR TO TRY..?

Ok, don't fire that motor any more unless you can verify oil pressure. Take the damn sender out, disable the ignition, and have someone crank it while you hold a rag near the sender port on the motor. If you don't see oil after about 10 seconds of cranking...stop, take the engine out, and fix it before you do any more damage running it with no oil pressure. If you do see oil squirt out...go and get a mechanical gauge at autozone so you have an accurate reading.

before i changed everything all over...i found a adapter fitting and just put the mechanical gauge straight to the engine at the 3rd crank i got pressure...
reinstalled old sender and whalla! 60 lbs of pressure...so i think im good ill keep checking it today before i go out again.....IT IS HOT AS HELL OUT SIDE....I BURNT MYSELF 3 TIMES OUT THERE JUST GRABBING SHIT AND TOOLS...THANKS for the input!

i totally forgot to tell you ....your oil pressure gauge was on the fritz the day i took it out.....john mentioned this thread last night and i was like "DOH!"
it was pegged past 80lbs...then it was 0...then pegged past 80 again. being it was bouncing back and forth, i figured either the sender or gauge was junk.
glad you got it sorted out. im sure this little bit of info woulda saved you a huge headache.
