Was out at the lake last weekend and the boat sputtered then died. Check the coil and has power but no spark? Help, clueless in las Vegas..

Oh it has a msd pro billet and msd blast coil. Thanks guys.

Bad box?

It's the ready to run with the ignition module. Maybe that? Can I just but the ignition module or do I have to buy a whole new dizzy? Thanks.

You can buy the box by itself

Its the rtr i dont think theres is a box. First thing i would do is pull the coil wire and see if theres spark from the coil. If not bad coil or if theres a balast resister make sure theres power at both ends. If there is a 6al box they dont like to get wet and could very well have gone bad. Just my lousy 2cents

I pulled the coil wire and no spark and even tried a different coil and still no spark.

Change the module inside the distributor. It's underneath the rotor.

I'm gonna order one on Monday, hopefully that's it!

thats what it sounds like to me. There are not to many things that would cause no spark like that. Normally when a coil goes out it is a slow thing. The motor will start to miss under load or high RPM.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help!

try resetting your box before ordering anything...there are directions on MSDs site on how to do it so i wont tell you how..you should hear a quick little "click" from the box when it happens...also a low battery can cause your box to not operate properly which will cause you to loose spark as well...even if its cranking over fine it could still be low enough...humor yourself ;)
give it a shot..
charge battery and if that doesnt work, reset your ignition box.

There is no box with the rtr set up. It's almost like an HEI with a remote coil.

As electrical (coil) gets warm the resistance in the wires is increased like in any electrical equipment. So when the wires and coil are cold there is a lot of juice going to the plugs. As it starts to warm up there is more resistance in the wires and the coil not delivering the same pop to the plugs. Hence the missing and sputtering
