Title: Oil Pan Pickups
Post by: Brad @ SCJB on February 26, 2012, 02:29:36 PM
I have a 10qt Dooley pan for my BBC. Does Dooley have a pickup specifically designed for their pans? Anyone have a picture of one? I looked around, but came up with nothing. I am trying to figure out if I have the right pickup for this pan.

rexmar description states "dooley oil pan pickup" so id imagine they have one specifically for their pans.

The Dooley on my big block Chevy uses a factory truck pan and uses an OEM type pick up. I run the pick up 3/8" off the bottom and seems to work great. I have also welded a bracket to it that goes to one of the tray bolts/studs, just for a little added strength.

From What I am told, Dooley made so many variations of their pan that it gets convoluted. I guess run whatever you feel comfortable with. I have seen Moroso and Hamburger pick ups used with the Dooley pan in some of the race boats, the Moroso just seemed smallish to me, as does the Dooley.

Put play dough or clay in the pan and bolt it up to see where Ur pickup is then run it if it works if not call dooley they may make pick ups but so does everyone else that makes pans my olds pan is a stocker with the front cut off to match the sump for 10 qts
